This year’s Fellows bring rich regional perspectives, interdisciplinary expertise, and innovative ideas to address some of the most pressing challenges in AI governance today.
Thanks to the overwhelming interest in the Emerging Leaders in Ethical AI Governance Fellowship, in May 2026, Globethics has also launched a new public programme, the Open Track: Emerging Leaders in Ethical AI Governance, a series of free webinars which runs alongside the fellowship and is open to all.

At a recent meeting in Jakarta, Globethics engaged with Indonesia’s Vice Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, and partners from YADEMA to advance discussions on ethical AI governance. The exchange highlighted Globethics’ key role in promoting the transition from voluntary ethical principles to enforceable, inclusive, and context-sensitive regulatory frameworks. |

Emphasising the growing importance of global collaboration, the meeting also reinforced support for the upcoming Global Ethics Forum 2026 in Bali as a platform convened by Globethics to strengthen dialogue and action on responsible AI governance worldwide. |

Ethics as a Bridge in Times of Polarisation |
|
Globethics Executive Director Fadi Daou recently participated in the Venice ResetDOC Seminar on “The Role of Ethics in a Broken Polis,” contributing to discussions on the growing challenges of political polarisation and the role of ethics in rebuilding dialogue. |

Reflecting on the seminar, Fadi highlighted how current global trends — including the rise of populist movements and increasing political fragmentation — are contributing to shrinking civic space, deepening divisions, and the dehumanisation of opposing views. These dynamics, he noted, risk undermining democratic deliberation and, in extreme cases, can lead to various forms of violence. Against this backdrop, the seminar emphasised the urgent need to rethink the relationship between power, narrative, and public discourse. Discussions pointed to a shift in which political, financial, media, and technological forces increasingly shape narratives, often reinforcing polarisation rather than enabling open debate. |
