Dear
In a world increasingly marked by toxic polarisation, normalised violence, and eroding trust in multilateral systems, there is an urgent need to reclaim our shared ethical values and human dignity. Globethics, in collaboration with OHCHR’s Faith for Rights, convened a high-level dialogue at the UN Palais des Nations on 16 May 2025, bringing together civil society leaders, UN experts, and faith actors. The dialogue—framed under the theme Living Together in Harmony – Rejecting Dehumanisation and Toxic Polarisation—offered a much-needed platform to confront today’s rising threats to peace, justice, and social cohesion.
Participants reflected on the global escalation of militarisation, hate speech, and the dehumanisation of migrants and minority groups, often driven by divisive political narratives and amplified by digital technologies. In response, the meeting articulated a call for renewed alliances – across civil society, faith traditions, ethical institutions, and public policy actors – united in the defence of human rights, ethical governance, and peace.
The dialogue reaffirmed the critical role of ethical leadership and proposed practical recommendations, including strengthening interfaith coalitions, reinvesting in non-violent conflict resolution, and safeguarding civic space. A white paper is now in development to capture these outcomes and catalyse action.
At this pivotal moment, Globethics remains committed to co-creating a just, inclusive, and peaceful future—one founded on dignity, shared responsibility, and collective hope.
