Shaping the future of AI ethics and governance |
The India AI Impact Summit 2026 concluded earlier in February as a landmark moment: a major international AI summit hosted in the Global South, signalling a shift in who shapes the global conversation on AI governance and public‑interest technology.
Across three days of debate and high‑level interventions, three themes emerged consistently:
- AI trust and safety,
- AI and democracy, and
- Digital empowerment and literacy.
At the heart of these discussions lay a shared global concern: how to build an AI ecosystem that is trustworthy, democratic, and centred on human dignity. |
These themes echoed in Paris last week, where Globethics participated in the 2026 Conference of the International Association for Safe and Ethical AI (IASEAI). During the Affiliates Workshop, Paola Gálvez joined in underscoring a shared conviction: building ethical AI ecosystems requires dialogue, cooperation, and sustained collaboration among organisations that share common values.
Globethics is proud to be part of the IASEAI Affiliates community, working together towards safer, more inclusive, and more human‑centred AI. |
Taken together, these touchpoints show how our work continues to meet the conversation where it’s happening—across regions, disciplines, and communities. We’ll keep building on this momentum in the months ahead, including as preparations begin for the next AI Summit in Geneva, 2027. |

As global leaders warn of a “world without rules,” AI stands at the centre of both the crisis and the opportunity.
In this thought‑provoking blog, Prof. Rachel Adams, CEO and Founder of the Global Center on AI Governance, explores why reimagining AI governance — with Southern perspectives at the forefront — is now essential to protect justice and equality worldwide. |

Dietrich Werner (Dr), Globethics President, January 2026. |
As the UN crosses its 80‑year milestone, the call for reform is reaching new urgency — but, as Dietrich Werner, President of Globethics, argues in this blog, the real crisis runs deeper than institutional design. Many of today’s global challenges — from AI and armed conflict to collapsing trust in governance — are at their core ethical challenges. Werner makes the case for bringing ethics back to the center of multilateral decision‑making, highlighting why values like dignity, fairness, and responsibility must guide the UN’s next chapter if it is to remain legitimate and future‑focused. |

Empowering CSOs in AI Ethics with UNESCO |
As a direct follow‑up to the policy brief Pathways to Inclusion: Advancing Civil Society’s Role in AI Governance, which highlighted a significant gap in capacity‑building opportunities for civil society, Globethics has partnered with UNESCO to co‑develop a new pilot course: Empowering Civil Society Organizations to Lead the Way in Advancing AI Ethics. This initiative responds to one of the brief’s most pressing recommendations—strengthening the skills and agency of CSOs to shape ethical and inclusive AI governance. |
We invite you to read the full policy brief to learn more about the findings behind this collaboration, and we look forward to sharing the results of the pilot soon. |

Scaling Ethical Leadership Training in Africa |
With this step now concluded, the initiative transitions to its next level: Master Trainers will soon begin training selected organisations in their respective countries, including churches and church-related organisations and civil society organisations, equipping them with practical tools to strengthen ethical leadership and institutional integrity. |
